This seminar reexamines ḥikma (wisdom) as a foundational mode of knowing in the Islamic intellectual tradition. Moving beyond rhetoric, eloquence, and moral exhortation, it presents wisdom as a luminous and self-authenticating truth that transcends formal reasoning while harmonizing reason and revelation. Drawing upon Qurʾānic usage, Prophetic teachings, and classical philosophical and Sufi reflections, we will explore how ḥikma functions as both the culmination of discursive inquiry and the threshold of inner realization. Join us for a rigorous investigation of wisdom as the ultimate measure by which knowledge is discerned, integrated, and brought to fruition in the life of the knower.
Participants are welcome to review the paper in advance; the seminar will expand upon its arguments and situate them within a broader metaphysical and existential framework.
